While Shohei Ohtani's megalith Los Angeles Dodgers team leaks oil as they wait for him to get back on the bump (they'll be fine), his card market is just as robust as ever. One collector who'll be experiencing some financial windfall because of it might appreciate the whirlwind a little more than others.

Want to fall in love with the hobby? Be six years old and pull a ridiculous Ohtani one-of-one redemption in one of the very first packs you touch. That oughtta do it.

Remember when we theorized that Yoshinobu Yamamoto's Topps Chrome superfractor auto was merely the appetizer for Ohtani's? While we haven't quite gotten that card yet, his Topps Series II one-of-one platinum parallel auto has surfaced and been redeemed. It ended up in the hands of a six-year-old girl who's JUST starting out giving this whole "collecting" thing a try.

As one commenter noted, tongue-in-cheek, won't somebody please think of the breakers?!

Six-year-old girl might get insane value from one-of-one Dodgers Shohei Ohtani autograph

...but probably won't cash in, which is way better.

Think of how annoyed some folks in the market are to see a child nab the pull of the century? And think of how much better that makes the landing spot feel? The worst people you know are seething. That rocks.

This story is also perfectly timed, coming on the heels of the news that the Cooper Flagg one-of-one NBA Debut patch auto puller ended up in the fetal position and has been rebuking offer after offer because he prefers being the family that owns the card vs. the family that has a lot of money. Will he be able to resist that temptation forever? Who knows? Doubtful. But right now, he's soaking in the purity, which rocks.

And, again, given that people are trying to fork over $550,000 at the drop of a hat for similar cards, this one very well could finance a collegiate education plus grad school down the line.

But forget about inflation. There's no time for that now. Bring the card to Ohtani's eventual Hall of Fame induction and make the memory of a lifetime raffling it off. This is what it's all about.
