What is Cam Schlittler, exactly? Pitching prospects and rookie hurlers typically don't break through to the collecting stratosphere - but Cam Schlittler is more of a cultural icon and a New York symbol these days than he is a "rookie hurler". Schlittler may have already reached his value ceiling, especially given the constraints preternaturally tied to anyone's right arm - but he's going to continue to be the favorite player of every New York kid with a pulse if he keeps this up.
Schlittler's legend grew again on Tuesday night in his sixth career start against the Boston Red Sox, his second in the postseason. His 6 1/3 shutout innings on 117 heroic pitches lowered his career ERA against the Sox to 0.47, the lowest all-time mark for any pitcher with 5+ starts against them.
He's become the main character in this rivalry, displaying a remarkable ability to be attacked as the center of attention and use all the silliness as fuel (Sox fans still don't seem to understand their agency in the situation, though). He's only 1.5 years into his MLB career. We have no idea where this lands, but no matter how dominant you've been, the odds are stacked against anyone becoming Roger Clemens with metronomic consistency for 20 years.
So far, he's part Andy Pettitte - calm, cool, and collected in the spotlight - and part Curt Schilling - sneering and ready to hurl fastballs over a stiff upper lip. Neither pitcher ever dominated the collecting space - but neither pitcher had the foresight to hit the mound in 2025-26, with a Chrome boom, a RC frenzy, and a young fanbase willing to spend.

Cam Schlittler collecting journey spans two Bowman Chrome products in two years
Schlittler, oddly, spans the gap between 2025 Bowman Chrome and the 2026 edition. An afterthought when he first hit the scene as a mid-round pick out of Northeastern, topping out at 93 MPH, Bowman products didn't give him a second look. As such, he received a Bowman 1st after his sterling 2025 debut, then doubled up with a Bowman RC in his second season in the 2026 product.
You'll see Schlittler's base and mojo parallels from the 2025 edition sell for a baseline of $10-20, which is how you know his parallels will remain semi-unaffordable chases from this point forward. Even if his upward trajectory as a pitcher stalls, he's become too famous to be hidden. He'll be a Year 3 chase as well. He'll be desirable in the tri-state. His soon-to-be Cy Young status will lend credence to any and all chases.
If Schlittler is a Pettitte/Schilling hybrid, if only for a moment, there's almost no way he doesn't remain more collectible than those two predecessors. Tuesday's showing of remarkable consistency under fire only further underscored that reality.
