The Pokémon TCG’s Ascended Heroes expansion is already among the most popular and well-regarded sets of the past few years among collectors and Pokémon fans, thanks to its abundance of terrific artwork and the historic debuts of several notable ‘mon. Mega Feraligatr, Mega Meganium, and, most notably, Mega Dragonite all receive their first-ever PTCG cards in the set.
While Ascended Heroes is only a few months old, it already features a plethora of high-dollar cards, including several worth more than $400 and one climbing as high as nearly $1,400. Let’s take a look at the 15 most valuable Pokémon cards from Ascended Heroes.
Here is the list (for now) of the most valuable Pokémon cards from Ascended Heroes
15. Mega Gengar ex – Mega Attack Rare, 269/217
Market Price: $87.46
The Mega Evolution era of the TCG unveiled the new Mega Attack Rare rarity, which harkens back to certain cards from the XY era of the game. This Mega Gengar Mega Attack Rare isn’t as spectacular as other cards on this list, but the immense popularity of Gengar and its mega form means that even this card is worth nearly $90.
14. Mega Froslass ex – Special Illustration Rare, 275/217
Market Price: $93.23
A new mega form introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the ice/ghost-type Froslass looks even more elegant and imposing in this new rendition, and its SIR illustrated by Teeziro underscores that aesthetic with swirling purple and gold coloration.
13. Mega Meganium ex – Special Illustration Rare, 272/217
Market Price: $96.17
A ‘mon that had long been in need of some love, Chikorita’s final evolution Meganium gets its first-ever full-art card in Ascended Heroes, and this grass-type’s vibrant coloration is certainly eye-catching on its SIR.
12. Steven’s Metagross ex – Special Illustration Rare, 289/217
Market Price: $104.90
Metagross, one of the most imposing Pokémon designs ever, is a pseudolegendary psychic/steel-type originally hailing from the Generation Three Pokémon games, where one of its most notable trainers is Champion Steven. That trainer’s Metagross gets the SIR treatment with some lush, detailed artwork courtesy of artist chibi in Ascended.
11. Psyduck – Illustration Rare, 226/217
Market Price: $111.30
In a set loaded with top-dollar SIRs, it’s no surprise that only one IR peeks it head into this cash-heavy list: Psyduck 226/217, illustrated with care and precision by REND. Showcasing a floating, carefree Psyduck in a beautiful, azure body of water, I desperately want to join this Duck Pokémon in its island reverie.
10. Mega Feraligatr ex – Special Illustration Rare, 274/217
Market Price: $175.71
While Feraligatr has featured on several notable cards over the years, such as its holos from the Neo and e-Reader eras, its first-ever full-art card came via Ascended Heroes, and what a full-art it is. This SIR showcases the powerful physical attacker Mega Feraligatr in all its glory. Even Totodile’s final evolution knows how great Totodile’s design is, hence the callback to that Generation Two starter Pokémon’s head in this design.
9. N’s Zoroark ex – Special Illustration Rare, 286/217
Market Price: $178.76
One of the most beautiful cards in this—or any Mega Evolution—set is this stunning take on N’s Zoroark ex, originally found in 2025’s Journey Together expansion. One of only three cards illustrated by artist Raita Kazama in the PTCG so far, one of the other two is the SIR Mega Gardevoir ex from Mega Evolution, showcasing Kazama’s talent at producing full-arts.
8. Lillie’s Clefairy ex – Special Illustration Rare, 280/217
Market Price: $203.33
Another Journey Together classic reskinned as a stunning Ascended Heroes SIR is the singular chase card from JTG, Lillie’s Clefairy ex. While the Journey Together version boasts a verdant green color palette, the AH take on the duo is a bright combination of pinks and blues, befitting one of the cutest pink Pokémon around: Clefairy.
7. Mega Dragonite ex – Mega Hyper Rare, 295/217
Market Price: $339.12
The debut of Mega Dragonite in the TCG reveals a few notable high-dollar cards, including the all-gold Mega Hyper Rare rendition, which, as we’ve seen with cards from Chaos Rising and Perfect Order, are not quite as desirable as the beautifully colorful SIR renditions of the same subject. Still, over $300 for a fairly new Pokémon card after the market has had a chance to “cool off” is pretty darn impressive.
6. Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex – Special Illustration Rare, 281/217
Market Price: $452.70
There are some notable tiers within this 15-card list, and a new one begins right here with this incredible Team Rocket’s Mewtwo SIR with artwork from the original PTCG Charizard artist himself, Mitsuhiro Arita (who made his debut in Magic: The Gathering in 2024).
This strikingly chiaroscuro artwork represents an over-$100 jump in price from the MHR Mega Dragonite, and it’s easy to see why as it features the following notable price-boosting elements: It features a popular ‘mon in Mewtwo, it features a notable trainer in its art, and, by design, SIRs are rarer than almost every other card type in the game.
5. Pikachu ex – Special Illustration Rare, 277/217
Market Price: $466.43
Another juicy SIR is the first of two Pikachu ex SIRs from Ascended Heroes. You know a set is going to be bonkers when it has not one, but two amazing artworks featuring the mascot of the Pokémon franchise itself. This incredibly colorful and cartoonish rendition comes courtesy of Pokémon designer James Turner, but its lofty over-$450 price point somehow pales in comparison to the other Pika from Ascended (more on that one later).
4. Mega Charizard Y ex – Mega Hyper Rare, 294/217
Market Price: $671.61
You know a Charizard has to at least make the top five of most valuable cards from a set if it’s present, and that’s certainly the case with this all-gold Mega Hyper Rare rendition of Mega Charizard Y, which represents a new tier on this list, as this card is worth over $200 more on the secondary market than its predecessor.
3. Mega Dragonite ex – Special Illustration Rare, 290/217
Market Price: $829.42
And the value jumps again with this staggering achievement from artist DOM, which follows the recent trend of mega form SIRs featuring prior evolutions on the same card.
Here, the new Mega Dragonite form appears alongside all three previous stages in the Dratini line, including the beloved middle evolution Dragonair, whose design clearly carries through into Mega Dragonite itself. It’s a stunning, colorful work of art, and it carries a bonkers price tag above $800 in today’s market.
2. Mega Gengar ex – Special Illustration Rare, 284/217
Market Price: $1,336.83
The two cards in the top tier of Ascended Heroes’ valuations seem to flip-flop the runner-up and top spots frequently, but today, it’s the stunning Mega Gengar ex SIR that lands at #2 with a wallet-obliterating price tag of more than $1,330.
With artwork by danciao, of Phantasmal Flames’ Mega Charizard X ex SIR fame, this card harkens back to classic fantasy art from artists like Frank Frazetta. Gengar’s menacing expression and the mysterious, swirling clouds of energy surrounding it make this an instantly iconic card in the history of the TCG.
1. Pikachu ex – Special Illustration Rare, 276/217
Market Price: $1,357.02
The top spot today goes to one of the most spectacular Pikachu cards in recent history, which is saying something. Pika remains one of the most popular ‘mon to collect thanks to its omnipresence in the games and its broader cultural role as the mascot of the entire Pokémon franchise.
This card is a gorgeous, colorful creation with artwork by booota, who had only illustrated two Sun & Moon-era Japanese promo cards before this. With this incredible SIR now under their belt, more high-profile cards are surely in this talented artist’s future. Nearly $1,400 could be in your bank account’s future, too, if you’re able to sell this staggering achievement in Pokémon card design in today’s market.
This list is among the most stacked in recent history of the Pokémon TCG, so it’s no wonder that Ascended Heroes sealed product remains nearly impossible to track down, especially at retail price.
Either way, if you manage to pull one of these amazing cards, let us know in the comments! What is your favorite card on this list? Thanks for reading and catch you next time.
