Following in the footsteps of the beloved Ascended Heroes Pokémon TCG expansion, which boasted a plethora of high-value cards featuring a number of eminently popular Pokémon, Perfect Order is among the least well-regarded and least valuable sets in recent vintage — though that hasn’t stopped the TCG from producing notable gains in the market.

Despite Perfect Order’s less-than-stellar reception, there are still a number of valuable cards that are either competitively viable, tremendously collectible, or a combination of both.

What are the most valuable Perfect Order Pokémon cards?

10. Meowth ex – Ultra Rare, #107/088

  • Market Price: $18.90

The headlining card from Perfect Order is Meowth ex, and even the standard full-art Ultra Rare of this strong card is worth nearly $20 on the secondary market.

Seeing as at least one copy of this utility card is found in the top two competitive Pokémon TCG decks in the current metagame — Dragapult ex and Raging Bolt ex — represent nearly 50% of total deck share in tournaments, it’s no surprise that even a non-Illustration version of the card is worth plenty.

9. Luxray – Stamped Best Buy Exclusive, #028/088

  • Market Price: $29.34

Available only in Best Buys stores in the U.S. (and select retail stores in Australia and New Zealand), this scarce stamped Luxray is worth nearly $30 on the secondary market, despite being only a “half-art.” Sometimes those premium stamps are worth a pretty penny. Either way, this wonderful electric-type 'mon is overdue for the Illustration Rare treatment.

8. Clefairy – Illustration Rare, #094/088

  • Market Price: $31.17

Arguably the most beautiful card from Perfect Order tips the scales at just over $30, which, to this writer, is a pretty sweet deal considering that cards boasting popular ‘mon that are also incredibly cute often age well and end up costing quite a bit on the secondary market a few years later.

My suggestion for this one is “buy, buy, buy,” especially if you’re in a position to get a few copies at market price. This Clefairy IR’s value will only go up over time.

7. Jacinthe – Special Illustration Rare, #122/088

  • Market Price: $35.53

Jacinthe is one of the most notable new characters unveiled in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and she serves as the proprietor of the luxe Hotel Richissime as well as the leader of the Society of Battle Connoisseurs.

While her pleasant, almost twee, exterior can be grating, she is actually among the most important and powerful trainers in the story of Legends: Z-A, and her first SIR card leans towards the “cuteness” aspect of her personality and visual identity.

6. Mega Starmie ex – Special Illustration Rare, #118/088

  • Market Price: $69.78

When Starmie’s mega evolution form was first leaked, people thought it was fake due to Starmie becoming bidepal and vaguely resembling Patrick Star of SpongeBob Squarepants.

In fact, it was all too real, though this SIR rendition — of what can only be described as an “acquired taste” version of the elegant and powerful Starmie — does, admittedly, look pretty cool. It features Mega Starmie blasting out some kind of attack from a Lumiose City rooftop.

5. Rosa’s Encouragement – Special Illustration Rare, #123/088

  • Market Price: $76.11

Rosa is the female player character from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, and this SIR Supporter card is her first full-art PTCG release since her first in 2019’s Cosmic Eclipse.

This trainer card boasts striking artwork by Iori Suzuki, with Rosa’s eyes dazzling in encouraging fashion as she considers a stunning Pikachu-themed cup of ice cream and not-so-subtly nodding to the iconic Castelia Cone from her home region of Unova.

4. Mega Clefable ex – Special Illustration Rare, #119/088

  • Market Price: $80.11

Another Pokémon that received its first mega evolution form in Pokémon Legends: Z-A was another member of the original 151: Cleffa’s final evolution, Clefable.

Mega Clefable picks up the important flying type upon mega evolving, and this SIR version showcases Clefable’s newfound flight in adorable fashion as the ‘mon is giving the universal signal for its iconic Metronome attack. Great art from Cona Nitanda (who also did this set’s Clefairy IR) caps off a terrific piece of cardboard.

3. Mega Zygarde ex – Special Illustration Rare, #120/088

  • Market Price: $87.29

2. Mega Zygarde ex – Mega Hyper Rare, #124/088

  • Market Price: $168.14

One of the box-art Pokémon from this set is Mega Zygarde, so it’s no surprise that two of the top three most valuable cards from Perfect Order display Zygarde in its overpowered Mega form. That includes the “all gold everything” Mega Hyper Rare, which does actually outpace the SIR version, which likely will not be the case with the box art ‘mon from the TCG’s upcoming Chaos Rising set, Mega Greninja ex.

In my opinion, the SIR is likely the better bet right now, as it is more colorful, and the kantaro-illustrated artwork showcases all four forms of the mythical Pokémon Zygarde, from the dog-like 10% forme to the turret-shaped Mega. Great stuff befitting a notable SIR.

1. Meowth ex – Special Illustration Rare, #121/088

  • Market Price: $200.59

As expected, everyone’s favorite rascally kitty nabs the top spot with this colorful SIR with artwork from Natsumi Yoshida, who is a fairly recent addition to the Pokémon TCG’s stable of artists. This gorgeous, vibrant card represents Yoshida’s first-ever SIR in the game. If we can expect Yoshida to illustrate more competitive staples in such eye-catching fashion, it certainly won’t be her last.

Right around $200 for the headlining SIR from a set is actually pretty reasonable, at least by the zany standards of the modern PTCG market, so nabbing a copy of this in trade or at your local game store might be worth a shot.

(Not So) Perfect Order?

Currently, per Limitless TCG, Perfect Order is the least valuable Mega Evolution-era set to obtain in totality, with a total value roughly 45% of the next-lowest option (the original Mega Evolution).

That makes Perfect Order a terrific “buy low” candidate right now, as the cards on this list — specifically the SIRs and the best IRs — are sure to only accrue in value over time as fans and collectors realize just how pretty the Clefairy IR and Mega Zygarde ex SIR both are.
