The Pokémon TCG’s newest set, Chaos Rising, boasts a number of notable cards, though their overall value pales in comparison to the top-dollar Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares found in Ascended Heroes.
With the late May 2026 release of Chaos Rising in the rearview mirror, now is the perfect time to take a look at the 10 most valuable cards from the set now that the market has had a chance to cool off slightly and normalize. Let’s ninja spin our way to the top spot.
These are the most valuable Pokémon cards in Chaos Risen
10. Xerneas – Illustration Rare, 091/086
Market Price: $19.76
Kicking off the list is the only card that I didn’t peg as one of the cards that collectors would be seeking out in Chaos Rising: the Xerneas full-art Illustration Rare.
As one of the box-art ‘mon from Pokémon X as well as a notable legendary found in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it’s no surprise that this gorgeously illustrated card with artwork by YASHIRO Nanaco (of Sunbreon fame) tilts the scales at just under $20.
9. Froakie – Illustration Rare, 088/086
Market Price: $22.95
I had the luxury of pulling this card twice in a row on my first two packs of Chaos Rising, and then not hitting anything of note again other than the IR Watchog. C’est la vie in the world of PTCG collecting!
Either way, Froakie is a popular water-type starter and the fact that its final evolution, Greninja, is the box-art ‘mon from this set means that this striking IR was always going to be a fairly big hitter from the set. Also, apologies to Frogadier, who just missed at #11.
8. Mega Greninja ex – Ultra Rare, 100/086
Market Price: $24.98
The first of three Greninja cards herein, the first one is the less-rare Ultra Rare full-art version that showcases Greninja’s new Mega-Evolved form. With artwork that is more “still life” than “slice of life,” this card being worth less than the other two high-dollar Greninjas makes total sense.
7. Roxie’s Performance – Special Illustration Rare, 121/086
Market Price: $35.79
Striking artwork courtesy of Tomowaka headlines the first full-art card that actually focuses on the notable trainer Roxie. With her bass guitar slung low and a vibrant neon graffiti-style color palette behind her, this card’s nearly $40 value on the secondary market seems fitting.
6. AZ’s Tranquility – Special Illustration Rare, 120/086
Market Price: $43.51
AZ is a towering, 3,000-year-old trainer who spends much of his time in the original Generation Six (Pokémon X and Y) games atoning for his past sins. Then, in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, he showcases his talents as a hotelier as the owner of Hotel Z alongside his beloved Floette.
In this stunning SIR, AZ is shown in a moment of repose with his Floette, illustrated to perfection by fan-favorite artist OKACHEKE. The gossamer lighting and verdant yellow and green color palette make this a top-flight full-art card, with a lofty price point to match.
5. Mega Floette ex – Special Illustration Rare, 117/086
Market Price: $61.13
Despite only being the middle stage evolution of the Flabébé line, Floette is a special ‘mon in the plot of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and, after years of being unable to (legally) obtain the Eternal Flower Floette, which boasts striking blue and black coloration, in-game, Legends: Z-A finally allowed players to obtain this special partner of AZ’s, and, by extension, its Mega form.
This SIR showcases that new Mega-Evolved form to perfection, as Teeziro’s gorgeous artwork conveys both the immense cuteness of the ‘mon, as well as its innate power, as it boasts the strongest Fairy-type move across the entire franchise: Light of Ruin.
4. Mega Dragalge ex – Special Illustration Rare, 118/086
Market Price: $67.74
Dragalge, the final evolution of the seahorse-style Pokémon Skrelp, had never received a full-art card until Chaos Rising – in which it actually receives two such cards: a regular Ultra Rare, and this, a beautiful SIR rendition illustrated by Kazumasa Yasukuni.
Yet another gorgeous color palette typifies this card, which boasts an astounding attack that places a whopping 16 damage counters on a defending ‘mon when poison damage occurs. Pretty and potent, much like Mega Dragalge itself.
3. Cinccino ex – Special Illustration Rare, 119/086
Market Price: $95.86
Speaking of pretty, this SIR is likely the most adorable SIR in the entire set—and one of the most adorable of all time, which is a pretty high bar to clear, but this Cincinno ex certainly has an argument.
Surrounded by various soft accoutrements (pillows, a blanket, a comfy couch), Cincinno looks right at home on this gorgeously illustrated work by Keisin. Whenever a card is rare and cute, you’re always going to see a fairly hefty price tag, and the nearly $100 mark for this SIR certainly fits that bill.
2. Mega Greninja ex – Mega Hyper Rare, 122/086
Market Price: $326.39
1. Mega Greninja ex – Special Illustration Rare, 116/086
Market Price: $432.88
As expected, the top two cards from Chaos Rising are both Mega Greninja variants. The first is the all-gold Mega Hyper Rare, a new rarity created for the Mega Evolution series of cards. Far rarer in terms of finding in the wild (as in actual booster packs), the “all gold everything” look of these cards has not quite hit the stratospherically high values of SIRs… yet.
Speaking of, the most valuable card found in Chaos Rising is the amazing SIR version of Mega Greninja ex that forms a beautiful, interconnected canvas with its two pre-evolutions – all illustrated to perfection by Susumu Maeya.
While Mega Hyper Rares are certainly spectacular, colorful SIRs will continue to reign supreme as the most valuable modern Pokémon cards. That is, of course, until a new rarity type is introduced – such as the Futuristic Rares from the recently announced 30th anniversary collection.
The Pokémon TCG continues to sell out and produce record sales on the secondary market, though the market is, perhaps, the most volatile it’s ever been. Either way, these 10 cards from Chaos Rising are probably good bets to retain their value. In some cases, they might even get pricier. Either way, Grading on the Curve has got you covered.
