If you looked at footage from Portland, ME this week, home of the Double-A SeaDogs, and thought, "Whew, those lines outside the ballpark for Cooper Flagg bobbleheads several hours before gametime look ridiculous. Thank goodness I'm not there!" I have one additional question for you: How much do you value your time?
Flagg, the prince of Topps' first season of licensed NBA cards in decades, is a son of Maine who averaged 21 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. The big-bodied hooper can bruise or pull up from distance, and his values are higher than his leaping ability. If you're the lucky Rhode Islander who pulled his 1-of-1 Rookie Debut Patch Auto, you may be entitled to $3.5 million (and you might even want to shoot higher or wait for him to inevitably join the Boston Celtics in free agency one day).
But the latest Flagg prize didn't require fans to be an oil baron or benefit from extreme pack luck. All you had to do was show up to Portland this week and park your feet on the cement. If you took home one of just 1,000 bobbleheads, your potential windfall could run the gamut from $250 opening bids (the lowest current option on eBay) all the way up to $30,000, a listing with no bites (yet!).

Maybe the owners of the 1-of-1 will accept a handful of bobbles in trade? Perhaps all 1,000 would do the trick? Hadlock Field had no idea what hit it.

What other contenders even are there? A few vintage 1950s "Big Head" Cartoon MLB Mascot men might fetch a pretty penny. Maybe some of the original run of SGAs from 2000-2002 when MLB teams unearthed and repopularized bobbles could reach a solid height, but we're talking mere hundreds (I've always been partial to the Albert Pujols one where he's standing in a replica Busch Stadium, personally).
If someone actually bites on the $30k, look ... congratulations, man. Unlikely, but you shot your shot. Still, the hype is undeniable, and there's nothing with Flagg's likeness that isn't susceptible to the bump.
Now, can someone please send this article to my mom? I want to prove driving two hours to New Britain, CT in the mid-2000s to pick up BD&A Joe Mauers was somewhat worth it. Never wrong, just early.
