Reds Prospect Rahier Arrested in Arizona
Cincinnati Reds minor leaguer Tanner Rahier is scheduled to appear in court today after he was arrested Saturday for allegedly throwing rocks at his girlfriend and knocking her unconscious outside a restaurant in Glendale, Ariz., according to reports from kpho.com and AZCentral.com.
According to the reports, Rahier was intoxicated and got into an argument with the bartender at the restaurant. His girlfriend, whose name has not been released, convinced Rahier to leave the restaurant. Once the couple reached the parking lot, they started to argue and Rahier struck the woman with a rock on the left side of her head, according to the reports.
Rahier has since been released from jail.

Rahier hit .238 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs in 117 games for Class A Dayton in 2014.
Rahier is the fourth minor league prospect to be arrested this offseason. On Nov. 19, 2014, Red Sox prospect Cody Kukuk was arrested in Long Beach California, on outstanding robbery warrant in his native Kansas, according to the Lawrence Journal-World. Kukuk, along with another man who was also arrested for an outstanding warrant in the robbery, allegedly entered an apartment with handguns and took belongings from the resident, according to the LJ-W.
On Jan. 13, Cleveland Indians pitcher Justus Sheffield was arrested in Tullahoma, Tenn., “on charges of aggravated burglary and violating the drinking-age law,” according to this report from Yahoo.com.
Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Troy Scott was arrested in Australia on Jan. 29 for his role in a benches-clearing brawl during an Australian Baseball League game, according to MiLB.com’s Tyler Maun. Scott was initially suspended for six games, but he was ultimately suspended indefinitely. According to ABCNews Australia, Scott was granted permission to return to the U.S. for Spring Training on the condition he return in late March, when he is scheduled to appear in court.
