Game 1

The Mesa Solar Sox won a see-saw battle with the Peoria Javelinas with two-run innings in the eighth and ninth to win the game. Cubs prospects Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler were instrumental in the victory. Bryant went three for five with two doubles and a triple, scoring three runs and driving in another while Soler went two for four with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Taylor Lindsey of the Angels, Tyler Collins of the Tigers and Max Muncy of theAthletics each had a pair of hits in the win. Michael Roth got lit up a bit and struggled with his control, going four and a third innings with two runs against on four hits and three walks. Only Richie Mirowski made it through the game without giving up any runs.

On the other side of the diamond, Peoria starting pitcher Kyle Hunter only walked one but still gave up two runs on four hits over three and a third. Only Angel Baez was able to escape the dreaded runs against but he also walked three to go with three strikeouts in an inning and two-thirds. Seattle prospect Patrick Kivlehan went two for four with a home run and two RBI while Phillies prospect Cameron Perkins went two for five with a triple. The Padres’ Cory Spangenberg had a single and a walk to go along wtih two stolen bases and Delino DeShields also stole a pair after taking a walk in the fifth inning.
