Writers Wanted for Seedlings to Stars

When Seedlings to Stars was founded, we set out with a number of goals and plans in mind. Chief among those goals was to carve out a sizable niche in the world of MiLB/prospect sites by way of providing quality content on a consistent basis. At the end of the month, S2S will celebrate its first birthday and we’ve come a long way in that time.

While we’ve come a long way, we’ve got a long way yet to go. On the cusp of turning a year old, it’s time to rebuild and retool our staff in an attempt to push S2S to higher heights than we’ve achieved to date. It’s a tall order to be sure, but it’s one that I am confident is within our grasp. At least it is if we can assemble a team of talented and dedicated writers.

First and foremost our team needs a new Editor.

Scott and I both believed he was going to be our long term answer in that position but unfortunately life and work responsibilities cropped up and forced his immediate resignation about a week ago. The result is that for the 2nd time in two months I am looking for a new front man (or woman). If you think you might be willing to take up the baton and lead S2S forward, here are some of the requirements of the position:

  • Publish 30+ articles per month with daily content the primary goal.
  • Communicate with S2S staff and network leadership effectively and work to promote a positive environment.
  • Be willing to work with social media platforms to grow and expand the S2S name/brand as well as maintain a presence in places like Facebook and Twitter.

I know it seems like a demanding role and honestly being an editor on our network is a lot of work. It’s certainly not for everyone. However, Editors able to put in the time and meet our expectations are eligible for monthly revenue sharing payments (think along the lines of “pizza and beer” money and not “go out and buy a Ferrari” money).

If you’re interested in writing for Seedlings to Stars but aren’t looking to take on the daily grind of being an Editor, feel free to apply for a spot as a Staff Writer. The expectation that comes with this role is a minimum of 1 article/week or 4/month with an ideal monthly output of 10+ articles/month.

If you are interested in either role or if you’d like to discuss the details more in depth, the first step is to follow this link and fill out our network’s online application. Online writing experience is not required for either position, but obviously applicants should have a strong knowledge base with respect to prospects, MiLB, and/or the MLB draft.

While we are only looking to hire one Editor, the number of Staff Writers we are willing to add will be based on the number of quality applicants we receive that I feel will fit in with the rest of the FanSided MLB team and make it through our screening process.

For those of you who have become regular readers of S2S, I humbly ask you to stick with us through this transition. Robbie and I will still be around and Michael Rodgers will be returning to active duty after his brief leave of absence. We also have a new staffer that will be making his debut in the next week so content will still be published on a semi-regular basis and I hope that we will soon be back to providing multiple articles each and every day of the year.
