Sprouts: Anthony Gose, Bryan LaHair, Robbie Ray and More

facebooktwitterreddit

This week’s Sprouts includes featured content from Jays Journal, Cubbies Crib and District on Deck. I’ve also included links to articles from The Rays Rant, Friarhood, Phuture Phillies, Project Prospect and Baseball Prospect Nation.

Before we jump into things, here’s your baseball quote of the week:

"The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain’s free throws.~Rick Wise"

Jays Journal:

Apparently Anthony Gose didn’t run out every ground ball in the AFL. Is it a big deal? Your answer probably depends on your overall opinion of him as a prospect. Personally I’m still not sure what to think about young Mr Gose and his chances at carving out a productive major league career. But whether it’s simply a matter of youth or something more long lasting, tending to “lose focus” in games will only hamper his development and keep him from approaching his ceiling. Here’s hoping this is just a blip in his development.

Cubbies Crib:

Here on Seedlings to Stars, Bryan LaHair is unofficially, one of our favorite players. As as a result I’m essentially obligated to link to any content I come across on him. When it comes to the possibility of LaHair getting a shot as the Cubs regular first basemen I can hardly contain my excitement.

District on Deck:

Our network’s Washington Nationals site, District on Deck, recently started their Top-15 prospect list with Robbie Ray just making the cut. You may recall that Nathaniel ranked Ray at #81 in our Top-100 back in October.
