You might have noticed that here on S2S we haven’t dedicated much – if any – column space to the events unfolding in the desert as the Arizona Fall League just finished up it’s first week of action. I have some plans along those lines which may, or may not, ever see the light of day. Until I get around to those projects I thought I’d dedicate a portion of this edition of Sprouts to some AFL content.
The first place I want to send you is over to our general MLB site, Call to the Pen. It is here that you can get a daily recap of the previous day’s AFL action from the keyboard of the site’s Senior Editor, Blaine Blontz. I’m sure you’ve already made reading S2S a part of your regular routine, so why not go a step forward and read CttP every day as well?
While S2S may be a bit light on AFL content so far, I do pick a top pitcher and hitter from the previous days action and post those names and stat lines on the S2S Facebook page.
Next up in our AFL special, we turn our attention to our Pittsburgh Pirates site, Rum Bunter. Here Tom Smith provides a little info on Robbie Grossman and Jarek Cunningham while waiting for Gerrit Cole to make his AFL debut.
Pittsburgh Pirates fans may still be waiting for the 1st overall pick to take the mound, but for Mariners fans that wait as it relates to the 2nd pick in the 2011 draft is over. Danny Hultzen made his first AFL start on October 7th and SoDo Mojo’s Harrison Crow published some thoughts the following day.
Many more of our team sites are providing regular or semi-regular coverage of their team’s prospects in the AFL so keep tabs on your favorite team or team’s by reading some or all of FanSided’s 32 baseball dedicated sites.
That aside I wanted to share a few other links with you in a more straightforward manner.
