This week’s edition of Sprouts has a little something extra special to it. No it’s not related to the content that is linked here, but rather the snazzy new custom column image that will appear at the top of each release of Sprouts going forward.

Formalities aside, let’s see what minor league content has sprouted from the minds of our MLB team writers in the last several days … after the jump of course!

On Rising Apple, Matt Kaufman draws a comparison between two of the Mets top pitching prospects – and Eastern League teammates – Jeurys Familia and Matt Harvey.

Back on August 1st, Nathaniel proclaimed that Bryan LaHair should be in the big leagues.  Just a few days ago, Cubbies Crib Editor, Jordan Campbell, covered LaHair at length and believes he (Bryan) will be given a chance to have a role with the team next season. Whether or not he’s with the Cubs in 2012, LaHair has certainly made a name for himself both with his minor league season and the fact that he has 10 hits – including 4 2B, 3B, HR – in his first 23 PA with the Cubs this month.

Just today, SoDo Mojo Editor, Harrison Crow, continues his march through the world of Mariners prospects. We all love lists and there are few things in the world better than a prospect list. On that note, let this serve as an appetizer, to our main course. In just a few weeks we will be starting the Seedlings to Stars Top-100 Prospect list.
